Our HQ

Our apartment, in London, was located in the former headquarters of the Woolwich Royal Arsenal: building 22. Across the street, Wellington Park, around the corner Duke of Wellington avenue...

What's up with all the Wellies? Because of the boots or the beef recipe the Field Marshall is credited with? Certainly not.

Arthur Wesseley, 1st Duke of Wellington, was the general who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo. He is omnipresent in London and in the UK. In Hyde Park Corner the Constitution Arch was renamed Wellington Arch. In front of London Exchange there he is again riding his horse.

Heard from a tour guide: "He loved himself so much, that he had statues erected." No surprise that he is the person with the most statues... Not to mention streets, hotels, pubs...
