istanbul is warm and beautiful. the streets are packed with people, bustling around.
upon arrival, we set out on our first exploration of the city through the busy commercial street istiklal. people as far as the eye can see.
we took little side streets, much more quiet and relaxing, most turks were just lounging while playing a game of backgammon and drinking tea. i was the only woman in sight. we ended up eating at a local spot by the road -- pictures in post above. it was absolutely delicious. they grilled the lamb over hot coals.
with our bellies full, we are now going to bed. hopefully we'll catch up with istanbul time soon.
