St.Patrick's Day in Dublin

We took the kids downtown to the parade. Our neighbor said that we might regret it if we didn't. Well, it's not as if we regretted doing it... Despite special armband from Garda Dave allowing us to the section near the Post Office and the Spire -otherwise, we wouldn't have made it to O'Connell street at all!-, we couldn't see much. It did not help that the parade got underway almost a full hour late...

We left shortly after it started to escape the
crown and to grab lunch at The Church, a pub that used to be a church way back when Arthur Guinness was alive. He was baptized and even got married there. It is quite the tourist trap. Nevertheless, it was quite enjoyable.

Afterwards, Rachel and the kids took the bus home while Rob and I were determined to experience a Paddy's Day Dublin style. The streets were full of people, shoulder to shoulder, every second person wearing a green top hat. Unreal!

We made our way to the Stag's Head, found a couple of seats and enjoyed the company of the other carnivalers for the rest of the evening. Making our way to the bar or to the loos was an olympic event simply because of the amount of people everywhere. And the situation never calmed down!

Our advice: whether you are in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, in Venice for the Carnival or in Dublin for St.Patrick's Day, you just need to live it.
